Abstract

An optical inspection method (300) includes capturing one or more low-speed images (414) of a plurality of fans in a fan rotor, storing the one or more low-speed images (414) in a historical database (420) of an optical inspection system (400), and using the one or more low-speed images (414) in an inspection algorithm (500) of the optical inspection system (400) to produce an inspection result (440). Capturing the one or more low-speed images (414) for the plurality of fans in the fan rotor may include capturing the one or more images (404) of the plurality of fans while the fans are rotating at less than 100 rpm using a camera (402). Using the one or more low-speed images (414) in the inspection algorithm (500) may include using the one or more low-speed images (414) as reference images (404) for the inspection algorithm (500) to determine a presence of an irregularity on the plurality of fans.
