Abstract

A monitoring device (20) according to the present disclosure includes an acquisition unit (42), a face detection unit (44), a determination unit (46), a monitoring unit (48), and a warning unit (52). The acquisition unit (42) acquires image data obtained by capturing the interior of the vehicle (10) with a camera (24) provided in the interior of the vehicle (10). The face detection unit (44) detects a face of a person present in the interior of the vehicle (10) from the image data. The determination unit (46) determines whether the detected face is a face viewed from a predetermined side, which is one of a right face viewed from the right front side or a left face viewed from the left front side. When the detected face is determined to be a face viewed from the predetermined side, the monitoring unit (48) determines that the detected face is a face of a driver and monitors the state of the driver. When the detected face is determined not to be a face viewed from the predetermined side, the warning unit (52) outputs a warning.
