Abstract

Disclosed herein is a method for controlling an imaging data acquisition by a medical imaging system (110) from a region of interest (170) of a subject (118), which is at least partially moved due to respiratory movements of the subject (118). The method comprises receiving an imaging protocol (420) with a set of imaging parameters (422) for an executing of the imaging data acquisition. A respiratory signal of the subject (118) is received and a length (440) of a compliant respiratory phase (320) determined, during which the respiratory movements comply with a predefined movement tolerance (424). The length (440) is compared with an imaging time (426) required for acquiring the imaging data (470). The medical imaging system (110) is controlled to acquire the imaging data (470) based on a result of the comparing.
