Abstract

A process (100) for treating a gas mixture comprising carbon dioxide is proposed, wherein the gas mixture is compressed in a compression unit (102) to form a compressed gas mixture, the process comprising a first operating mode wherein a partial stream of the compressed gas mixture is stored in a buffer unit (103) and a second operating mode wherein a part of the compressed gas mixture stored in the buffer unit (103) in the first operating mode is withdrawn therefrom and recycled to the process (100) at a position upstream of the compression unit. A corresponding apparatus is also provided.
