Abstract

An apparatus (1) for stoppering a plurality of pharmaceutical cartridges (10), comprising: (a) a first support structure (130) for receiving a plunger nest (50) holding plunger stoppers (15) in a regular arrangement (D) forming a plurality of parallel rows of openings, (b) a second support structure (140) for receiving a cartridge nest accommodating a plurality of cartridges (10) with a filling opening upwards and disposed in the same regular arrangement (D), (c) a funnel arrangement (160) having a plurality of funnels (165) disposed in the same regular arrangement (D) for guiding a respective plunger stopper (15) for insertion into the filling opening (12) of a respective cartridge (10), (d) a vacuum manifold unit (150) having a plurality of openings (155a, 155b) disposed in the same regular arrangement (D), each opening (155a, 155b) accommodating a respective funnel (165), the vacuum manifold unit (150) being configured for distributing vacuum from a vacuum source to the plurality of openings (155a, 155b) and into the funnels (165), and (e) a pushing mechanism (110,112) configured for pushing the plunger stoppers (15) from the plunger nest (50) through the funnels (165) and into the filling opening (12) of the cartridges (10).
