Abstract

A method of inspecting erosion of a coating (16) on a component (10) at an outlet (26) of a through-hole (12) formed by waterjet drilling includes positioning a camera (42) to face the outlet (26); positioning a light source (46) at a first position (L1) from an inlet (24) opposite the outlet (26) of the through-hole (12); capturing a first image data of the outlet (26) and surrounding coating (16) with the camera (42) while the light source (46) is at the first position (L1); positioning the light source (46) at a second position (L2) from the inlet (24), wherein the first position (L1) is located between the inlet (24) and the second position (L2); capturing a second image data of the outlet (26) and surrounding coating (16) with the camera (42) while the light source (46) is at the second position (L2); and determining an amount of erosion of the coating (16) at the outlet (26) by comparing the first image data to the second image data.
