Abstract

Provided is an information processing apparatus (100) for controlling a printing apparatus (10), the information processing apparatus including: a registration unit (223) that is capable of registering the printing apparatus in the information processing apparatus without performing communication for obtaining specification information indicating a specification of the printing apparatus; a first control unit (222) that perform control to issue a request to obtain the specification information on the printing apparatus in response to receiving a response to a print job transmitted to the printing apparatus; and a second control unit (222) that perform control to update a specification description file (203) based on the specification information obtained in response to the obtaining request to thereby reflect the specification information in an advanced print setting screen (400) for creating a print job on the information processing apparatus, the specification description file being a file for describing the specification information.
