Abstract
A negative electrode active material, a negative electrode including the negative electrode active material, and a method for manufacturing the negative electrode active material are disclosed. The negative electrode active material may include a core and a carbon coating layer on the core. The core may include a porous support including a plurality of pores and a silicon on a surface of the porous support. The plurality of pores may include micro pores. A volume ratio of the micro pores of the porous support may be about 50% to about 100% relative to (e.g., based on) a total pore volume of the porous support. The porous support may include a first amorphous (e.g., non-crystalline) carbon, and the silicon may include an amorphous (e.g., non-crystalline) silicon.
