Abstract

An apparatus for autonomous data recording includes acoustic equipment for recording autonomous data and an enclosure to support the acoustic equipment. The enclosure includes a front cover member and a back cover member hingedly and releasably secured to the front cover. The back cover member includes a battery compartment configured to receive one type of at least two types of batteries to power the apparatus. The battery compartment is configured to receive a first type of battery, such as a D cell battery, in a first configuration within the battery compartment and to receive a second type of battery, such as a lithium-ion battery, in a second configuration within the battery compartment.
