Abstract
A power tool including a motor and a power input. The power tool also including a power switching network electrically connected between the power input and the motor and a controller electrically connected to the power switching network. The power switching network includes a plurality of Wide Bandgap Semiconductors (WBS) field effect transistors (FETs). The controller is configured to determine a motor speed of the motor; and generate pulse-width modulated (PWM) signals for the power switching network using field-oriented control (FOC) based on the motor speed. The PWM signals include a switching frequency greater than or equal to 50 kHz.
