Abstract

A miswiring protection circuit is provided for protecting a DALI apparatus from being damaged due to an AC mains voltage being accidentally connected to a DC bus output (38) of the apparatus. A forward-connected diode device (D1) is provided on a current path to the first output terminal (DA1) of the DC bus output (38) and a controllable semiconductor switch device (SW1) provided on a current path to the second output terminal (DA2) of the DC bus output (38). The miswiring protection circuit comprises an optocoupler device (304) having a LED input circuit (306) that is reverse-connected between the output terminals (DA1, DA2) of the DC bus output A photosensor output circuit (308) of the optocoupler device (304) is connected to cause the semiconductor switch device (SW1) to turn off and decouple the supply of the DC voltage of the first polarity from the second output terminal (DA2), if an external voltage of reverse polarity is connected to the DC bus output (38).
