Abstract
The present disclosure provides at least one of an iridium-containing manganese oxide that exhibits high oxygen evolution electrode catalytic activity in water electrolysis, a catalyst comprising the same, an electrode comprising the catalyst or a water electrolysis method in which the electrode is used. The iridium-containing manganese oxide according to the present invention is an iridium-containing manganese oxide having a molar ratio of iridium to manganese of 0.001 or more and 0.250 or less. In one aspect, the manganese oxide is manganese dioxide having a β-type crystal structure. In one aspect, furthermore, the ratio of the lattice constant in the a-axis direction to the lattice constant in the c-axis direction is 1.420 or more and less than 1.521.
