Abstract

Processing circuitry of a terrain recognition system is configured to: acquire ground surface height data indicating ground surface heights of sub-areas included in an excavation target region; each time excavation by a construction machine is executed a set number of times, execute first update processing in which the ground surface heights of the sub-areas in the ground surface height data are updated based on point cloud data acquired from a distance measuring sensor; and execute second update processing in which the ground surface heights of the sub-areas through which a bucket has passed in the ground surface height data are updated based on trajectory information indicating a movement trajectory of the bucket.
