Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a solution for MAC CE security protection. In a solution, an apparatus transmits, to a further apparatus, a MAC message including at least one MAC PDU. A MAC PDU of the at least one MAC PDU indicates a security type and a message authentication code. The security type indicates a coding metric for generating the message authentication code. The message authentication code is generated according to the coding metric and based on at least one of: a first key associated with the apparatus or the further apparatus, a second key associated with a radio resource control, RRC, layer, or information associated with the apparatus or the further apparatus.
