Abstract

A pallet detection device includes an optical detector and a processing circuit. The optical detector outputs point group data corresponding to a detection target and represented by a two-dimensional coordinate system including an X-axis extending along the width direction of a carrier pallet vehicle and a Y-axis orthogonal to the X-axis and extending along the longitudinal direction of the carrier pallet vehicle. The processing circuit calculates, when determining that the detection target is a pair of legs of a pallet, a first virtual point based on first point group data corresponding to one leg in the pair of legs and a second virtual point based on second point group data corresponding to the other leg in the pair of legs, and calculates a center point of a line segment connecting the first and second virtual points as a target point towards which the carrier pallet vehicle is to move.
