A cartridge detachably attached to an apparatus body of an image forming apparatus includes: a restriction member (60) provided on a toner cartridge (T), the restriction member being movable between a restriction position, at which relative movement between the toner cartridge attached to the attachment portion of the process cartridge (P) and the process cartridge is restricted by an engagement of the restriction member and the process cartridge, and a non-restriction position, at which the relative movement is not restricted; and a driving transmission unit (210, 211) for transmitting a driving force from the apparatus body to the toner cartridge by engaging with the apparatus body. The restriction member moves from the restriction position to the non-restriction position when a driving force reception unit receives the driving force from the driving transmission unit. |

An embodiment of this invention is directed to determination of the ink discharge state of a printhead capable of accurately determining the discharge state of each nozzle while suppressing increases in the size and cost of an apparatus. In the embodiment, the ink discharge state of a printing apparatus including a printhead including a heater for discharging ink and a temperature sensor, and a driving unit configured to drive the heater is determined as follows. It is controlled to drive the heater by applying the first voltage for discharging ink, and drive the heater by applying the second voltage enough not to discharge the ink. Whether ink is normally discharged or discharge failure has occurred is determined based on information obtained from detected plural temperatures in regard to the application timing of the second voltage. |
