A tire (103) is disclosed comprising an innerliner (133); a plurality of belts layered adjacent to the innerliner (133); a tread (119) adjacent to the plurality of belts opposite the innerliner (133); and a treadwear sensor (106) positioned in the innerliner (133). The treadwear sensor comprises a base plate (139) on an interior side of the innerliner (133) and a tube (143) extending from the base plate through the innerliner and the plurality of belts to a first wear depth in the tread such that an end of the tube (143) is exposed through the tire when the tread (119) is worn to the first wear depth. Also, a method is disclosed comprising providing a treadwear sensor having a tube and a base plate disposed at a first end of the tube, the treadwear sensor being configured to produce a unique leak signature when a tread is worn to a wear depth, and inserting the tube of the treadwear sensor through an innerliner of a tire such that a second end of the tube is disposed in the tread of the tire at the wear depth and the base plate is adjacent to the innerliner. Finally, an apparatus is disclosed comprising a base having a hole, an elongated member extending from the base, and a channel connecting the hole of the base to a distal end of the elongated member. |

A tire (10) for a vehicle is disclosed. In another aspect, the first pitch pattern (20) has a first pitch length (Li) and a first number of first tread elements (30) arranged in a V shaped pattern across the lateral width of the tread portion (11), the second pitch pattern (22) has a second pitch length (L<sub>2</sub>), which is shorter than the first pitch length (L<sub>1</sub>), and a second number of second tread elements (32) arranged in a V shaped pattern across the lateral width of the tread portion (11). In yet another aspect, the first pitch pattern (20) includes a first group of identical blocks (30) which comprise a first center block (26) and two side block alignments (28) which are inclined with respect to one another, and a first number of identical blocks (30); and the second pitch pattern (22) includes a second group of identical blocks (32) which comprise a second center block (26) adjacent to the first center block (26), two side block alignments (28) which are inclined with respect to one another, and a second number of identical blocks (32), the second number of identical blocks (32) being greater than the first number of identical blocks (30). |

A benzoxazine-functionalized diene-based elastomer is disclosed. It comprises polymer chains having repeat units which include conjugated diolefin monomers, and at least one benzoxazine connected to the polymer chains via a spacer. The spacer has a length in a range of from 3 to 8 atoms. Also, a rubber composition comprising 30 to 200 phr of a filler and 10 to 100 phr of said benzoxazine-functionalized diene-based elastomer is disclosed. A method of manufacturing a benzoxazine-functionalized elastomer comprises the steps: providing an amine-functionalized elastomer comprising at least one polymer chain, an amine group, and a spacer connecting the amine group with the polymer chain; and reacting said functionalized elastomer with a phenol, preferably in the presence of an aldehyde derivative, to obtain the benzoxazine-functionalized elastomer. |

The fiber-reinforced rubber layer (26) includes a rubber compound comprising: 100 parts of one or more rubbers wherein the one or more rubbers is the total amount of rubber for the rubber compound; one or more types of fiber (28) selected from nylon, aramid, carbon, cotton, and polyester, the aramid fiber, if used, including pulp and/or aramid fiber; a crosslinking agent and/or a vulcanizing agent wherein the crosslinking agent includes a dithiodicarboxylic acid and wherein the vulcanizing agent includes a dimaleimide, the dithiodicarboxylic acid, if used, being present in the rubber compound in an amount from 0.1 to 5 phr, alternatively from 0.5 phr to 3 phr, and the dimaleimide, if used, being present in the rubber compound in an amount from 0.1 to 5 phr, alternatively from 0.5 phr to 2 phr; and carbon black and/or silica. |
