Methods and apparatus for cross-color LM (Linear Mode) Intra prediction are disclosed. According to one method, when a current top area or a current left area of the current block is across a restricted boundary, a current LM parameter set is derived based on reduced neighboring reconstructed areas. The reduced neighboring reconstructed areas comprise a reduced top area having less than N top lines or less than N left lines if the current top area or the current left area is across the restricted boundary. According to another method, if the current top area is across the restricted boundary, expanded left area is used for deriving LM parameter set and if the current left area is across the restricted boundary, expanded top area is used for deriving LM parameter set. A method for multi-LM mode is also disclosed for restricted boundaries.

A method and apparatus of entropy coding of coding symbols using Context-Based Adaptive Binary Arithmetic Coder (CABAC) are disclosed. According to the present invention, a math formula is used for calculating the LPS range for deriving rangeOne value and rangeZero value. For example, the LPS range is derived using one or more mathematical operations comprising calculating a multiplication of a first value and a second value, in which the first value is related to (2 * the LPS probability index + 1) or the LPS probability index, while the second value is related to (2 * the range index + 1) or the range index. Besides, the LPS range can be derived by using a look-up-table including table contents corresponding to values of LPS range associated with a set of LPS probability indexes and a set of range indexes for encoding or decoding a binary value of the current bin.

The present disclosure provides methods for performing simplified matrix weighted intra prediction. The method can include: determining a classification of a target block; and generating, based on the classification, a matrix-weighted intra prediction (MIP) signal, wherein determining the classification of the target block comprises: in response to the target block having a size of 4×4, determining that the target block belongs to a first class; or in response to the target block having a size of 8×8, 4×N or N×4, N being an integer between 8 and 64, determining that the target block belongs to a second class.

Methods and apparatus of Inter prediction for video coding including affine Inter mode are disclosed. In one method, an affine MVP candidate list is generated, wherein the affine MVP candidate list comprises at least one inherited affine MVP derived from a neighbouring block set. Prediction differences of a current controlpoint MV set associated with the affine motion model are encoded using one predictor selected from the affine MVP candidate list at the video encoder side or the prediction differences of the current controlpoint MV set associated with the affine motion model are decoded at the video decoder side using one predictor selected from the affine MVP candidate list. In another method, the inherited affine MVP is derived by considering whether at least one of reference picture lists of said at least one neighbouring block includes one reference picture being the same as a current reference picture of the current block.
