Object-based transportation between tenants may provide advantages over persistence layer-based transportation on a cloud platform in situations where persistence layer storage space is limited. Object based transportation involves obtaining a selection from the target tenant application of a set of objects from the plurality of objects and determining objects identifiers for each of the selected set of objects. For each object in the selected set of objects, a request is sent to a source tenant. The requests includes the corresponding object identifier for that object. Corresponding object data is received from the source tenant. At least a portion of the corresponding object data is stored in a target tenant database. An existing object may be updated or a new object may be created.

The present disclosure involves systems, software, and computer implemented methods for efficient shared bulk loading into optimized storage. One example method includes identifying a data set on a client to load to a server. Load steps that can be performed either on the client or the server are identified. Values for load factors are determined. Load rules are determined that are based on load factors and are for determining processing locations for the load steps. A processing location of either the client or the server is determined for each load step, based on the load rules. Load steps that have a processing location of the client are executed on the data set, on the client. The data set is transferred from the client to the server, over a network. Load steps that have a processing location of the server are executed on the data set, at the server.

The present disclosure involves systems, software, and computer implemented methods for performing enterprise messaging with a virtual message broker. One example method includes operations to receive, at an enterprise messaging (EM) layer associated with a shared message bus, a request associated with a first client to subscribe to a second client, wherein the EM layer provides an abstraction to the shared message bus, and wherein the shared message bus is shared between the first client and the second client. A rule set associated with the first client is identified, where the rule set is defined in a service descriptor associated with an EM service interface bound to the first client. In response to determining that the requested subscription to the second client is allowed by the identified rule set, the subscription is created, and events corresponding to the subscription are provided to the first client for consumption.

Techniques and solutions are described that can be used to determine data subsets of a data set that may be responsive to a query. In one aspect, imprints are created for the data subsets, where an imprint indicates whether, for a plurality of bins, a data subset contains values within respective bins. The bins are defined at least in part using data for a set of queries. In another aspect, at least one bin of a plurality of bins is designated to be associated with values of the data set satisfying a threshold frequency. In a further aspect, imprints are created for a plurality of bins, where an imprint indicates whether the plurality of data subsets comprise a value for a given bin. A query imprint can be compared with the data subset imprints or bin imprints to determine data subsets that may be responsive to an associated query.

Techniques and solutions are described for partitioning data among different types of computer-readable storage media, such as between RAM and disk-based storage. A measured workload can be used to estimate data access for one or more possible partition arrangements. The partitions arrangements can be automatically enumerated. Scores for the partition arrangements can be calculated, where a score can indicate how efficiently a partition arrangement places frequently accessed data into storage specified for frequently-accessed data and placed infrequently accessed data into storage specified for infrequently accessed data.

Implementations of the present disclosure include methods, systems, and computer-readable storage mediums for upgrading applications. Actions include receiving an upgrading request for an original table of an application, generating an upgraded table including a structure matching the original table, setting a session variable to initiate an application upgrade, and adding a set of triggers to the original table to selectively control read operations and write operations for the original table and the upgraded table based on the session variable.

A method, a system, and a computer program product for providing a compression service, such as a Compression as a Service (Caas). In some implementations, there is provided a method including receiving, at a compression service, metric information regarding one or more columns of a database server; in response to receiving the metric information, processing, by the compression service, the metric information to identify at least one column as a candidate for compression by the compression service; in response to identifying the at least one column, compressing by the compression service, the at least one column, wherein the compression service uses a hardware accelerator to execution a compression algorithm that compresses the at least one column; and notifying, by the compression service, the database server of the at least one column compressed by the compression service. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also disclosed.

According to some embodiments, a local thin cloud tenant computer platform is coupled to a user synchronization data store and to a remote user cloud application executing at a data center via a distributed communication network. The local thin cloud tenant computer platform may receive synchronization information from the remote user cloud application and store it into the user synchronization data store. When the local thin cloud tenant computer platform determines that the remote user cloud application is unable to respond to a request from a local user device, the synchronization information in the user synchronization data store may be accessed to provide limited functionality associated with the remote user cloud application. The local thin cloud tenant computer platform may then transmit a response to the request from the local user device.

A system may include a shared storage data store containing a first version of entities with original content and a local tenant storage data store to contain information associated with a tenant's application server. A database interface agent may enter a copy-on-access mode and maintain materialization and modification flags. The agent may then initiate an upgrade process during which the first version of the entities are utilized by the application server. The agent may then enter a copy-on-write mode and delete, from the local tenant storage data store, entities having flags that indicate the table was migrated but did not receive customer data. The structure of the remaining entities may then be updated in view of the structure of the second version of the entities. Finally, the content of the entities may be updated in view of the content of the second version of entitles and previously received customer data.
