Abstract

A motor vehicle steering system (1) includes a knob (51) that is for rotating a wheel (52) of a steering member (10), has a knob center (C3), and is supported rotatably around the knob center (C3) by the wheel (52). A control unit (100) sets a predetermined period after detection of gripping on the knob (51) by a grip detection device (75) as a transfer period for transfer from reaction force application only by a wheel reaction force actuator (13) to reaction force application only by a knob reaction force actuator (12). In this transfer period, the knob reaction force (T<N>) is increased with time and the wheel reaction force (T<H>) is reduced with time.
