Abstract
According to the invention there is provided a marking composition for uniquely marking a target for identification purposes which includes a particulate material and at least one substance for attaching the particulate material to the target; in which the particulate material includes a plurality of substrate particles each having a peptide possessing a characteristic sequence which is directly bound thereto by a covalent bond.
