Abstract

An image forming apparatus includes: an original conveying unit (11a, 11b, 12a, 12b, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20a, 20b, 21a, 21b, 32a, 32b, 33) that conveys an original (G); an original scanning unit (2) that scans the original (G) conveyed by the original conveying unit (11a 11b, 12a, 12b, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20a, 20b, 21a, 21b, 32a, 32b, 33) so as to generate an image of the original (G); a plotter unit (1) that draws the image on a recording medium; an abnormality detecting unit (312, Se0, Se1, Se2, Se3, Se4, Se5, Se6, Se7 ,Se8) that detects an abnormality in the plotter unit (1); and a control unit (3) that, when the abnormality detecting unit (312, Se0, Se1, Se2, Se3, Se4, Se5, Se6, Se7 ,Se8) detects the abnormality in the plotter unit (1), shuts off first power supply to the original scanning unit (2), and sets a first conveying speed of the original (G) by the original conveying unit (11a, 11b, 12a, 12b, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20a, 20b, 21a, 21b, 32a, 32b, 33) to be higher than a second conveying speed when the original (G) is scanned by the original scanning unit (2).
