Abstract

A fixing device (6) includes a moving assembly (97) that moves a second rotary body (63) and an airflow guide (87) between a first position and a second position, the first position where the second rotary body (63) contacts a first rotary body (64) to form a fixing nip (61) therebetween through which a recording medium (P) bearing an unfixed toner image (T) is conveyed and a constant first interval (±) between the second rotary body (63) and the airflow guide (87) is smaller than a variable second interval (³) between the second rotary body (63) and an exhaust duct (69), the second position where the second rotary body (63) is isolated from the first rotary body (64) and the constant first interval (±) is equivalent to the variable second interval (²).
