Abstract

An image forming apparatus includes: a skew correcting unit; a toner consumption amount calculating unit; and a memory assigning unit. The skew correcting unit corrects skew by controlling writing/reading of image data for a plurality of lines into/from a memory based on a skew correction amount that has been calculated previously. The toner consumption amount calculating unit refers to pixels on a plurality of peripheral lines among pixels of the image data stored in the memory when a toner consumption amount of a pixel to which toner adheres is calculated. The memory assigning unit assigns a capacity not used for skew correction on the memory that is mounted for the skew correcting unit to the toner consumption amount calculating unit.
