Abstract

The present invention provides and engine attachment pylon 17 for mounting an aircraft engine 11 to an aircraft structure while minimising vibrations induced into the engine attachment pylon during flight and operation of the engine. The engine attachment pylon according to the present invention comprises a rigid box like structure 19 housing a resonator 29 which is tuned to attenuate tension and compression vibrations, experienced by the engine attachment pylon 17. The engine attachment pylon 17 is primarily used in combination within another identical engine attachment pylon 18, both being linked together on a vertical plane (P) within the fuselage by a hinge like junction 28, and each engine attachment pylon 17, 18 being raised approximately 30° from the horizontal (y) axis of the fuselage 10.
