Abstract

A pinion shaft of a steering system has a plurality of pinion teeth. A rack shaft (20) has a stroke region (22) in which a plurality of rack teeth (21) that mesh with the pinion teeth is formed. The stroke region (22) includes a center region (22A) that includes a center position of the stroke region (22), end regions (22C), each of which includes an end position of the stroke region (22), and intermediate regions (22B), each of which is located between the center region (22A) and one of the end regions (22C). A pressure angle of each rack tooth (21) included in each of the intermediate regions (22B) is smaller than a pressure angle of each rack tooth (21) included in each of the center region (22A) and the end regions (22C).
