Abstract

The system (S) has an inbound flowmeter (DB1) and a return flowmeter (DB2) generating respective measurement signals (M1, M2). A processing unit (T) determines fuel consumption of an engine (M) using the measurement signals. A solenoid valve (EV1) is mounted in parallel with one of inbound and return flowmeters to bypass one of the flowmeters in the event of locking the other flowmeter. A control unit (C) detects locking of the former flowmeter from the measurement signals, and controls opening of the solenoid valve in the event of locking of the former flowmeter. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a measuring system.
