Abstract
The present disclosure provides a host electronic device 110, a stylus 102 and a method for determining the location of a stylus 102 with respect to a host electronic device 110. A magnetic field generator 112 of the stylus 102 is energized and a first magnetic field 302 is sensed at two or more magnetometers (106, 106') of the host electronic device 110. The location of the stylus 102 with respect to the host electronic device 110 is determined dependent upon the first magnetic field 302. A second magnetic field may be sensed, while the magnetic field generator 112 is either deactivated or energized with an opposite polarity, to correct for the presence of a background magnetic field. The magnetometers 106 and 106' may be directional magnetometers and may be arranged in an array 408.
