Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for predicting the risk of sepsis for a patient undergoing surgery, comprising the preoperative step of measuring preoperative cholesterolemia and the postoperative step of measuring IL8 or PCT levels of said patient, wherein low preoperative cholesterolemia and high postoperative IL8 or PCT level is associated with an increased risk of sepsis.
