Abstract

A lock device (19) of a steering system (1) includes a tongue piece unit (56) and a frame plate (55) held on a first side plate (25). The tongue piece unit (56) includes elastic tongue pieces (65) supported in a cantilever manner by a vertical frame (62) provided along at least one of longitudinal edge portions of at least one of first side plates to form a row (L1, L2) that extends in a tilt direction. The frame plate (55) includes partitioning portions (N1, N2), between which a plurality of grooves (61) are formed to house the elastic tongue pieces (65) so as to be projectable. When a steering column is locked, some of the elastic tongue pieces (65) are pressed by a pressing surface (45) of a tightening member (36) to be retracted into grooves (61). Consequently, the tightening member (36) is interposed between the elastic tongue pieces (65) projecting from the grooves (61) in the tilt direction.
