Abstract

A steering system includes an outer jacket (21) including a pair of clamped portions (31) disposed on both sides of a slit (30), an inner jacket (20) coated with an insulating coating layer (37) all along an outer periphery (20A) of the inner jacket (20) except for a predetermined area (36), an upper bracket (6) that supports the clamped portions (31) and that is fixed to a vehicle body (22), and a clamping mechanism (7) including a clamping shaft (41) that is supported in clamping shaft insertion holes (34) in the clamped portions (31) so as to be energized. The steering system further includes a conductive elastic member (50) including a first portion (51) engaged with one of a slit inside portion (41D) of the clamping shaft (41) positioned in the slit (30) and the predetermined area (36) so as to be energized and a second portion (52) that slide-contacts the other of the slit inside portion (41D) and the predetermined area (36).
