Abstract

A system (100) for sanitizing a tray table (102) may include a sanitation assembly (108) operatively coupled to the tray table (102). The sanitation assembly (108) includes an ultraviolet (UV) light source (112) configured to emit UV light, and a sanitation control unit (114) operatively coupled to the UV light source (112). The sanitation control unit (114) operates the UV light source (112) to emit the UV light onto the tray table (102) when the tray table (102) is secured in an upright position, and prevents the UV light source (112) from emitting the UV light when the tray table (102) is not secured in the upright position.
