Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a system for resource reservation executed by a network element (9) of a mobile communication network (12) for a communication connection between a mobile device (6) and a communication destination (8) comprising the steps of receiving (1) a request (7) for establishing the communication connection between the mobile device (6) and the communication destination (8) originating from an application of the mobile device (6); determining (2) the type of application requesting the communication connection between the mobile device (6) and the communication destination (8); estimating (3) the required Quality of Service (QoS) for the requested communication connection with respect to the upload and/or download requirements under consideration of the type of application requesting the communication connection between the mobile device (6) and the communication destination (8); checking (4) whether the communication connection between the mobile device (6) and the communication destination (8) can provide the estimated required Quality of Service (QoS); and reserving (5) if possible the resources for the communication connection between the mobile device (6) and the communication destination (8) to provide the required Quality of Service (QoS). The invention further relates to a network element and/or a mobile device built to implement at least partially the method according to the invention.
