Abstract

The present invention pertains to a press for pressing a component, in particular thermoplastic consolidation and/or forming press, comprising: a first fixed part (2) comprising a first pressing tool (4); a movable part (5) comprising a second pressing tool (6) for pressing a component together with the first pressing tool (4); and a second fixed part (7) for applying a pressing force to the movable part (5), wherein the second fixed part (7) and the movable part (5) are configured for applying the pressing force generated by means of interaction between a magnetic field of a pressing magnet (8) and a superconductor (9) cooled under its step temperature. Furthermore, the invention pertains to a method for pressing a thermoplastic composite component with such a press.
