Abstract

The present invention provides a test device (100, 200) for analyzing data communication of an electronic device (101, 201), the test device (100, 200) comprising a data encoder (104, 204) configured to encode outgoing data (103, 203) according to a predefined physical protocol and output a respective outgoing physical signal (105, 205) to the electronic device (101, 201), a data analyzer (106, 206) configured to receive an incoming physical signal (107, 207) from the electronic device (101, 201) and provide incoming data (108, 208) encoded in the incoming physical signal (107, 207), a protocol emulator (102, 202) that is coupled to the data encoder (104, 204) and the data analyzer (106, 206) and that is configured to generate the outgoing data (103, 203) and decode the incoming data (108, 208) according to a predetermined application protocol, and a protocol analyzer (109, 209) that is coupled to the protocol emulator (102, 202) and that is configured to analyze a protocol conformance of the incoming data (108, 208) to the predefined application protocol. Further, the present invention provides a respective test method.
