Abstract
A thermal management system (10) for transferring heat from a heat load includes at least one composite structural member (22) that supports a heat load source (24) and a heat transfer member (12) in thermal contact with the at least one composite structural member (22) and in thermal contact with a heat sink (23). The system (10) further includes at least one thermally-conductive first fastener (30) that is in thermal contact with the heat transfer member (12) and couples the heat load source (24) to the at least one composite structural member (22). The at least one first fastener (30) conducts heat from the heat load source (24) into the heat transfer member (12). The heat transfer member (12) conducts heat from the thermally-conductive first fastener (30) to the heat sink (23).
