Abstract
A hot gas path component (52) of an industrial machine includes primary (202) and secondary cooling pathways (204). A body (112) includes an internal cooling circuit (160) carrying a cooling medium (190). A primary cooling pathway (202) is spaced internally in the body (112) and carries a primary flow (192) of a cooling medium (190) from an internal cooling circuit (160). A secondary cooling pathway (204) is in the body (112) and in fluid communication with an internal cooling circuit (160). The secondary cooling pathway (204) is fluidly incommunicative and spaced internally from the primary cooling pathway (202). In response to an overheating event occurring, the secondary cooling pathway (204) opens to allow a secondary flow (194) of cooling medium (190) through to the outer surface (180) of the body (112) and/or the primary cooling pathway (202). The primary flow (192) flows in the primary cooling pathway (202) prior to the overheating event, and the secondary flow (194) of cooling medium (190) does not flow until after an opening (230, 231) of the secondary cooling pathway (204).
