Abstract
A first intake air amount (MC1; MCAFM) of an engine (10) is calculated based on a detected value (GA) of an intake air flow rate of an air flowmeter (13). A second intake air amount (MC2; MC2*; MCSM) is calculated based on any one of a detected value (PM) of an intake pipe pressure (PMA) and a throttle opening degree (TA) instead of the detected value (GA) of the intake air flow rate. When it is determined that an intake pulsation is not large, a difference amount (DEV) of the second intake air amount (MC2; MC2*; MCSM) from the first intake air amount (MC1; MCAFM) is calculated. A corrected second intake air amount (MC3; MCSM*), which is a sum of the second intake air amount (MC2; MC2*; MCSM) and the difference amount (DEV), is set as an intake air amount calculated value (MC) when it is determined that the intake pulsation is large
