Abstract

A system having a smoking substitute device comprising a battery configured to energise the smoking substitute device over a plurality of operating cycles and a controller. The controller is configured to identify a puffing pattern characteristic during an operating cycle, detect the amount of energy stored in the battery, and determine the number of remaining operating cycles available to a user based on the puffing pattern characteristic and the amount of stored energy.
