Abstract

A method for filling a container (2) with a pourable product by means of a modulating valve (5) provided with a shutter (8) movable through a plurality of positions includes the steps of getting (504) a first current value indicative of the position of the shutter (8), getting (505) a second current value indicative of a pressure of the pourable product, controlling (509) the position of the shutter (8) based on a third current value indicative of an actual flow rate of the pourable product through the valve (5), providing (501) a first relation (R1; T1) between the pressure (8) and a reference flow rate of the pourable product that flows when the shutter (8) is at a given reference position, providing (503) a second relation (R2; T2) between the position of the shutter and a parameter defined by a ratio between the actual flow rate and the reference flow rate, determining (506) a fourth current value of the parameter through the second relation (R2; T2) according to the first current value, determining (507) a fifth current value of the reference flow rate through the first relation (R1; T1) according to the second current value, and computing (508) the third current value from the fourth current value and the fifth current value.
