Abstract

A method for operating a vehicle is disclosed. The method comprises deactivating, or significantly reducing an activity of, one or more vehicle stability control systems, thereby increasing a level of direct control over operation of the vehicle for a driver of the vehicle.The method also comprises determining a state of the vehicle relative to surroundings of the vehicle.Furthermore, the method comprises activating, or significantly increasing the activity of, at least one of said one or more vehicle stability control systems when the determined state indicates fulfilment of a danger criterion, thereby decreasing the level of direct control over operation of the vehicle for the driver.Corresponding control unit, apparatus, system, vehicle, computer program, and computer program product are also disclosed.
