Abstract

The invention concerns a carbine with a weapon median plane (32), with a barrel (1) with a barrel bore axis (37), a gas drive (2), a sliding block (18), a closing spring unit (31), and a charging handle unit (8) arranged in front of the sliding block (18), wherein the charging handle unit (8) has two operating handles (21a,b) rotatably mounted about pivot pins (23a,b) on a charging handle body (20), said operating handles (21a,b) being pushed about the pivot pins (23a,b) into their rest position by at least one handle spring.For facilitating the use and especially the forward shift of the charging handle, the charging handle body (20) is mounted on a carriage (19) which is arranged axially in front of the sliding block (18) and movable in the axial direction.
