Abstract
An apparatus (TE1) for measuring propagation delay in a cable is configured to: send through a first conductive line (B) of the cable an enable signal to a remote apparatus (TE2), the enable signal being indicative of a start of a measurement period; send, during the measurement period, a synchronization signal (SG) to the remote apparatus through a second conductive line (A) of the cable, the synchronization signal (SG) including an initial signal edge (SE1); detect a reflected signal edge (SE2) in the synchronization signal (SG), wherein the reflected signal edge is generated by reflection of the initial signal edge at the remote apparatus (TE2); determine a propagation delay for the cable, wherein said propagation delay is half of a time difference between the sending of the initial signal edge (SE1) by the apparatus and the reception of the reflected signal edge (SE2) by the apparatus (TE1).
