Abstract

A safety release system and method for releasing a connection between a first side safety structure and a connecting device of a side impact restraint protection system for a vehicle after a vehicle impact event. The first side safety structure is arranged in connection to a first side door of the vehicle, and the safety release system is configured for enabling opening of the first side door after the vehicle impact event, wherein the safety release system is arranged between the first side safety structure and the connecting device. The connecting device is configured for releasably attaching the first side safety structure to a side impact restraint protection system member connected to a vehicle body structure. The safety release system comprises a releasing mechanism and a releasing member detachable from each other, and the safety release system is configured for being arranged in a first state where the releasing mechanism and the releasing member are connected to each other and a second state where the releasing mechanism and the releasing member are disconnected from each other.
