Abstract

A general purpose model for thermal evaluation and classification of the electrical insulation system of an electric machine with hairpin windings, the general purpose model comprising: a stator frame model (1) provided with a first stator slot (1a) and a second stator slot (1b) arranged adjacent to each other, wherein each of the first stator slot (1a) and the second stator slot (1b) has a slot insulation (id), and two hairpin bars (3), each hairpin bar (3) having a first leg (3a), a second leg (3b), and a hairpin bend (3c) extending between the first leg (3a) and the second leg (3b), wherein the hairpin bars (3) are stacked on each other with the first legs (3a) being arranged in the first stator slot (1a) and the second legs (3b) being arranged in the second stator slot (1b), wherein the first leg (3a) and the second leg (3b) comprise a conductor insulation (3d), and end portions (3e) of the first leg (3a) and the second leg (3b) are without conductor insulation (3d).
