Abstract

A method is provided for validating annotations of objects. Spatial datapoints are provided via a sensor, e.g. a Lidar system, and sample objects are annotated based on a portion of the datapoints by identifying the sample objects and by assigning a geometrical shape to a subset of the datapoints for each sample object. A value of a property is determined for each sample object based on the geometrical shape and/or the subset of the datapoints. A probability distribution for the property is estimated based on the values of the property for the sample objects. For all datapoints, objects are annotated, a value of the property is determined for each object, and a probability value is assigned to the determined value of the property for each object based on the estimated probability distribution. Based on the respective assigned probability value, objects are selected for a review regarding erroneous annotation.
