Abstract

A nanoemulsion for topical drug delivery, comprising diclofenac alkali metal salt, diclofenac free acid, diethyleneglycol monoethyl ether, a mixture of polyethylene glycol mono- and diesters of 12-hydroxystearic acid comprising about 20% to about 40% (w/w) free polyethylene glycol, caprylic capric triglyceride with a caprylic acid percentage of about 55% to about 60% and a capric acid percentage of about 40% to about 45%, and water. The nanoemulsion is useful in the treatment of joint pain, osteoarthritis, muscle pain, back pain and/or inflammation.
