Abstract

According to an arrangement, a quantum key distribution (QKD) device (1) includes an authentication processing unit (11) and a start unit (12). The authentication processing unit (11) performs inter-QKD-device connection authentication indicating authentication processing with an opposing QKD device (1), and key manager (KM)-QKD connection authentication indicating authentication processing with an opposing KM device (2). The start unit (12) enables a QKD function in a case where the inter-QKD-device connection authentication is successful and the KM-QKD connection authentication is successful.
