Abstract

An impact sensor system (440) for a header (200) of an agricultural system (100) includes a first sensor (442) vibrationally connected to a deck plate (212) of the header (200), wherein the first sensor (442) is configured to generate first signals in response to detection of vibrations due to initial contact between a crop and the deck plate (212) of the header (200). The impact sensor system (440) also includes a second sensor (444) vibrationally connected to the deck plate (212) of the header (200) and positioned forward of the first sensor (442), wherein the second sensor (444) is configured to generate second signals in response to detection of the vibrations due to the initial contact between the crop and the deck plate (212) of the header (200).
