Abstract

A vehicle alarm system and a method for activating a vehicle alarm system arranged in a vehicle for lighting up a target vehicle. The vehicle alarm system comprises an alarm signal detection unit, where the alarm signal detection unit is configured for detecting an alarm signal of the target vehicle. An alarm signal of the target vehicle is detected by means of the alarm signal detection unit upon activation of an intruder alarm of the target vehicle. An angular direction of the vehicle in relation to the target vehicle and a distance between the vehicle and the target vehicle are determined upon detection of the alarm signal S. A light source of the vehicle is activated to light up the target vehicle and/or a light source of a device associated with the vehicle is activated to light up the target vehicle when the determined angular direction is within a predetermined angular direction range and the determined distance is within a predetermined distance range.
